   Ortofon was founded in 1918 by two Danish engineers, Axel Petersen and Arnold Poulsen. These two pioneers had one very clear objective in mind - to put sound onto film, and with this, they established the Electrical Fonofilms Company A/S, which later on was renamed Ortofon A/S. A few years later, in the Palace Theatre, Copenhagen, they were able to present the first fully-synchronized sound films and in so doing, created a world sensation.

   Ortofon has designed and manufactured magnetic cartridges for about 30 years. In providing an economic alternative to the renowned Ortofon moving coil cartridges, the magnetic models have eatablished a firm position for themselves among music lovers and audiophiles all over the world.

   Your investment in an entry level cartridge from Ortofon's magnetic range never becomes worthless. As your awareness of musical details develops, and your demands to audio equipment increase, it is nice to know that all stylus units for the different lines, are completely interchangeable within their own series.

This creates a better path for vibration dispersion. The result is great midrange transparency and powerful punchy bass. These are custom assembled by KAB. Maybe one day, Ortofon will recognize the popularity of the Technics 1200 among audiophiles and return these to the standard lineup. Until then KAB will fill the gap.
