KAB TapeNAB™

    The TapeNAB™ is designed to allow testing of EQ response of a tape head preamplifier.

    Some Preamp designers had asked us to make a inverse EQ circuit for tape head preamps, much like the PreconLP is used to test Phono Preamps. This follows the NAB Standard of 3183us(50Hz) and 50us(3180Hz).

    Connects very simply, between a signal generator and the tape head preamp. Generator should have a 50 ohm output impedance or better.

    The TapeNAB uses an RC network to create a precise Inverse signal. When connected between a signal generator and the Tape Head Input, the preamp output will show the overall accuracy of the Preamp EQ. 2.5% Propylene capacitors and 1% metal film resistors ensure accuracy and channel matching.
