Since the spindle assemble is delivered complete, installation is a snap. All work is done from the top, remove the main printed circuit board, slip out the old spindle and slip in the new one. Like much of the precision of the 1200, the the spindle has a keyway that insures that it is in place correctly.

The screw on clamp is made from a precision molded bakelite resin and features a UHMW polyethylene backing to prevent marring of record labels.

   Every hi end turntable needs some kind of disc clamping system. Threaded designs are best because they are light weight, require no pressure to apply them, and the give you infinite control over the clamping pressure.

   The re machining operation required the making of a custom hi polished collet to hold the spindle while machining it. A custom collet is required because you do not want to mar the polished spindle in any way.

   The really great features to take note of with the RC-1200 are the easy installation and the peace of mind disc clamping offers

   Don't forget to try flipping the super mat over to expose the smooth flat side. I have found that this further reduces platter ringing and has some added sonic benefits as well

   Probably the most important thing we discovered when designing the clamp, was the need for the Ultra High Molecular Weight polyethylene sheet bonded to the bottom of the clamp. I wanted to get a rigid contact to the disc, but you need to be careful not to mar the record label. UHMW has superior slip characteristics and serves this propose well.
